{"id":13782,"date":"2021-08-01T16:10:48","date_gmt":"2021-08-01T15:10:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.theguthealthdoctor.com\/?p=13782"},"modified":"2023-03-01T09:55:49","modified_gmt":"2023-03-01T09:55:49","slug":"breastfeeding-benefits","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.theguthealthdoctor.com\/breastfeeding-benefits","title":{"rendered":"Breastfeeding benefits"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"bqtsh\" data-offset-key=\"5qdn1-0-0\">\n<p class=\"public-DraftStyleDefault-block public-DraftStyleDefault-ltr\" data-offset-key=\"5qdn1-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"5qdn1-0-0\">Did you know breastfed babies tend to not just have more beneficial gut bacteria but \u2018stronger\u2019 guts too?<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"public-DraftStyleDefault-block public-DraftStyleDefault-ltr\" data-offset-key=\"bihci-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"bihci-0-0\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"public-DraftStyleDefault-block public-DraftStyleDefault-ltr\" data-offset-key=\"ce4d-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"ce4d-0-0\">This is all thanks to the third of breast milk that\u2019s prebiotic (food for bub\u2019s microbes, not bub!) as well it teaming with live microbes, and immune-supporting chemicals.<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"public-DraftStyleDefault-block public-DraftStyleDefault-ltr\" data-offset-key=\"auhhi-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"auhhi-0-0\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"public-DraftStyleDefault-block public-DraftStyleDefault-ltr\" data-offset-key=\"32l6f-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"32l6f-0-0\"><strong>BUT<\/strong> it&#8217;s often the biggest challenge for so many mums, myself included! Everyone\u2019s breastfeeding challenges are different, for some it\u2019s mastitis (which I\u2019ll dive into in another post!), others it\u2019s food allergies, the list is extensive.<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"public-DraftStyleDefault-block public-DraftStyleDefault-ltr\" data-offset-key=\"dnfho-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"dnfho-0-0\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"public-DraftStyleDefault-block public-DraftStyleDefault-ltr\" data-offset-key=\"6ai0l-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"6ai0l-0-0\">For me, it was the effects of stress on my milk supply, which lead to more stress (and more cortisol, the stress hormone, in my milk!). I was stressed about being stressed, and so the vicious cycle began. Thankfully I was able to ask my mum and hubby for help- so if you are struggling please speak up and get the help you deserve!<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"public-DraftStyleDefault-block public-DraftStyleDefault-ltr\" data-offset-key=\"ec6cg-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"ec6cg-0-0\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"public-DraftStyleDefault-block public-DraftStyleDefault-ltr\" data-offset-key=\"bghic-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"bghic-0-0\">This is a judgement-free zone. If breastfeeding isn&#8217;t an option for you, don&#8217;t worry. There are lots of other things you can do to nourish your little one&#8217;s gut health&#8230;<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"public-DraftStyleDefault-block public-DraftStyleDefault-ltr\" data-offset-key=\"bs6b1-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"bs6b1-0-0\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"public-DraftStyleDefault-block public-DraftStyleDefault-ltr\" data-offset-key=\"b1ill-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"b1ill-0-0\">Try to avoid unnecessary antibiotics and medications. Of course, when they need them, take them. But if your GP or physician advises they&#8217;re not needed, do listen to them.<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"public-DraftStyleDefault-block public-DraftStyleDefault-ltr\" data-offset-key=\"b1ill-0-0\">\u00a0Play in the garden. Don&#8217;t be afraid of them getting a little dirty in the outdoors &#8211; it&#8217;ll expose them to a diverse range of nature&#8217;s microbes.<\/li>\n<li class=\"public-DraftStyleDefault-block public-DraftStyleDefault-ltr\" data-offset-key=\"b1ill-0-0\">Got a fury pet? Let them play* (under close supervision of course!). Having furry pets is linked to a more diverse GM and lower risk of allergies in bubs.<\/li>\n<li class=\"public-DraftStyleDefault-block public-DraftStyleDefault-ltr\" data-offset-key=\"b1ill-0-0\">Feed their gut bacteria. Bub\u2019s thrive on plant points too! When they&#8217;re eating solid foods, nourish them with a variety of vegetables (try to start with these first, more on this soon!), wholegrains, fruit, legumes, nuts and seeds.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"public-DraftStyleDefault-block public-DraftStyleDefault-ltr\" data-offset-key=\"6a9en-0-0\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"public-DraftStyleDefault-block public-DraftStyleDefault-ltr\" data-offset-key=\"7akns-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"7akns-0-0\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"bqtsh\" data-offset-key=\"2246i-0-0\">\n<p class=\"public-DraftStyleDefault-block public-DraftStyleDefault-ltr\" data-offset-key=\"2246i-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"2246i-0-0\">*for the first three months best to limit direct contact,
